Winter looks set to arrive earlier this year. According to the weather forecast from the Military Meteorological Service, the coming week will see a drop in temperatures, rain and snow in the mountains.
In our country, the penetration of a deep center of atmospheric pressure is expected, accompanied by moist but also cold air masses. The penetration of this deep center into the Mediterranean Sea will result in high amounts of humidity (saturation of the air with water vapor) and days with high intensity rain.
Also, due to the cold air masses of Polar origin and their introduction into the Mediterranean sea, there will be snowfalls which in the mountainous reliefs will be up to and dense.
In this way, for Monday, the weather is predicted to be clear with few transitory clouds (meteorological situation on the eve of the passage of this low pressure center).
Then for Tuesday and until Friday (and not only because an unstable atmospheric situation is expected for Saturday as well) the weather is predicted to be mostly cloudy and dense. However, short-term clearings are not excluded, mainly for Tuesday and Thursday and the central and southern areas.
On Tuesday, rainfall will be of medium to high intensity in the northwest, in the rest of the country with low to medium intensity.
For Wednesday, rains in the northwest continue with medium and high intensity, but high-intensity rains cover a large part of the territory in the afternoon and evening.
For Thursday, precipitation will occur until noon with moderate intensity, while in the mountain reliefs in the north and east at heights above 900-1000 meters, snowfall will occur with low and moderate intensity.
Meanwhile, on Friday, it will rain with medium and high intensity in the northwest area, while in the rest of the territory it will be medium to high.
Also, for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, very intense wind is expected from the south quadrant with an average speed of 5-12 m/s and along the coastline and the valley wind with a speed of up to 22-26 m/s accompanied by high waves in seas of force 5-7 front.
