Two days ago, a SPAK mega-operation hit the cocaine trafficking group that brought drugs from Latin America to be processed in the laboratory in our country and then trafficked to EU countries. Meanwhile, investigations continue.
Drugs were imported into our country from various Latin American countries, such as Ecuador, Venezuela or even Colombia. It is learned that a quantity of drugs also came from Brazil or the Dominican Republic.
Not for nothing, on November 5, a group of special prosecutors visited Brazil, including Altin Dumanin and Adnan Xholi, who are investigating the drug group, because part of the cocaine is suspected to have come from Brazil.
How was cocaine transported?
Cocaine is suspected to have entered our country through the Port of Durrës, while the investigative group is working to verify where the product was purchased, where it was loaded into the container and the route followed by the ships, the transit until the drug was brought to our country.
Cocaine came to our country hidden in cattle hide, a way used by this group to camouflage it and escape the checks with anti-drug dogs due to the strong smell of cattle hide. This is one of the few operations led by SPAK, through which all arrest warrants issued by GJKKO were executed, leaving zero room for de-conspiracy.
10 arrest warrants were executed in the October 15 operation, taking 7 Albanians and 3 foreigners, 2 Venezuelans and 1 Colombian into custody.
At the cocaine processing laboratory in Qereka, authorities found 850 salted cattle hides, 48 tons, where SPAK says cocaine imported from Latin America was hidden in September and November 2024. At this point, foreigners from Venezuela and Colombians, experts who guaranteed success in extracting cocaine from organic materials.
SPAK said that the choice of the laboratory in the village of Qereke is not accidental. Positioned near Rinas airport, law enforcement agencies find it difficult to monitor from the air. But on the other hand, together with the base in Durrës, located near the Port of the coastal city, the group of traffickers found it easier and faster to transport drugs and chemical mixtures through the airport and the Port.
During the operation, 6.1 kg of cocaine, 89 kg of solid mixer, 50 kg of liquid solution for the preparation of cocaine and over 51 thousand euros were seized.
A total of 22 mobile phones are in the hands of SPAK, which through BKH investigators is expected to reveal more about the communications of this criminal international drug trafficking network, 2 laptops, 7 bank cards and 17 SIM cards, while 3 vehicles were seized together with other important documents.
