After the meeting with the Head of the Secret Service of the UDB for Kosovo, Baton Haxhiu, he entrusted the protection of his family to him, hiding him in a secret residence of the UDB in Prizren; while he himself, at that time 32 years old, escaped through the UDB and hid in a secret residence in Macedonia; and through UDB propaganda pretending to seek to kill him, announced his death and physical disappearance...
It is not the Mayor of Tirana's fault that Baton Haxhiu is hated in Kosovo and has been driven out; but the Kosovar Albanians who are well aware of his and his family's anti-Albanian history, up to four generations before Baton, have publicly declared, confirmed and denounced it.
They branded him as a resident spy of the UDB within the society, intellectuals, media and politics in Kosovo; even the inhabitants of the village of Paklek and Drenas in Drenica, drove out the family of Fazli Haxhiu (Baton's father).
Whenever Baton Haxhi remembers his service as a UDB spy against the sovereignty and ethnic territorial interests of Kosovo, he reacts, saying that he fought and risked his life to save and liberate Kosovo from the Milosevic regime.
But the truth of Baton Haxhi's activity as an important and productive spy of the UDB comes out clearly from his testimony at the trial of Slobodan Milosevic in The Hague, where Milosevic told him: - "You Baton, you were and are a collaborator of the services our secrets. Do you want to prove it? While Batoni sewed his mouth shut, he lowered his head.
Question from the Hague judge: - Mr. Haxhiu! You were in a confidential meeting at Mr. Mahmut Bakalli's apartment in Pristina. When did this meeting take place?
Answers Baton Haxhiu: - This meeting took place on the 13th or 14th of November 1997. I had the details written down in a notepad, but I no longer have it.
Question: - How did this meeting begin?
Baton Haxhiu: - When I was arrested on October 2, they interrogated me for 16 and a half hours. And since it was a war situation, I said that the best thing would be to stop the conflict and meet Albanians and Serbs, in order to talk about how that crisis situation would be resolved.
Question: - Mr. Haxhiu, you said that you were arrested on October 2. In which year?
Baton Haxhiu: - Yes, I was arrested on October 2, 1997.
Question: - Mr. Haxhiu, you mentioned someone named Zoran Stijovic. Can you explain who Zoran Stijovic is and what his position was in November 1997 when he called you?
Baton Haxhiu: - Zoran Stijovic, was the chairman of the "Socialist Youth League of Pristina". He was a Serbian citizen and was on good terms with the Albanians under normal circumstances.
But I did not know that Zoran Stijovic was a high-ranking official of the UDB of the Serbian State, until the moment I received his phone call. (Pamphlet note: At that time, Zoran Stijovic was the Analytical Director of UDB Operations in Kosovo).
Question: - Mr. Haxhiu, can you explain to the Court what you mean by the statement that Zoran Stijovic, who called you and met you, was a high-ranking official of the Serbian State and its service? Who are you referring to? the term "Service?
Baton Haxhiu: - In the meeting we had in the office of Mahmut Bakalli, I realized that that person was a high-ranking official in the secret service of Serbia, because he was in the company of two main people, officials of the service (UDB), one with the last name Haxic and Mr. Gajic, who I knew worked there (at UDB) for 20 years, but I didn't know that was his real name.
Question: - Lord Haxhiu! where did Mr. Gajic work in November 1997?
Baton Haxhiu: - Gajic was in charge of Security Affairs, or as we call him in everyday vocabulary, Head of the Secret Service for Kosovo and he was in Kosovo for a long time.
Question: - Lord Haxhiu! You mentioned another official who was with Mr. Gajic. Can you tell us this person's name and say it out loud?
Answer: - I don't know his name, but he introduced himself as Mr. Hadzic and as Mr. Jovica Stankovic's assistant. During the meeting, he said that he will soon replace Mr. Gajic and will come on duty to Kosovo. This is what he stated in that meeting.
THREE FACTS/ After the secret meeting with Mr. Gajič, the Head of the UDB Serbian Secret Service for Kosovo, Baton Haxhiu entrusted him with the protection of his family, hiding him in a secret residence of the UDB in Prizren.
While Baton himself, at that time 32 years old, the UDB hid him in a secret residence in Macedonia; and through UDB propaganda pretending to be looking for him to kill him, he falsely announced his death and physical disappearance in the media.
We specify that Zoran Stijovic, Operations Director of UDB in Kosovo, was a close friend and colleague of Baton Haxhiu, in the Serbian student newspaper "Novi Svet". (Continues...)./ Pamphlet
