On July 15, 2024, the Ministry of Finance, as the central department of internal audit for foreign grants awarded to Albania, announced a 36 million ALL tender, with the object: "External audit of projects and grants with foreign funding for the years 2022-2023".
According to the information available to "Pamphlet", the Ministry of Finance, as a partner of foreign donors, audited the management of the grants they gave, but they did not agree with the reports and asked Minister Ervin Mete to conduct another audit.
The re-auditing will be done with external experts, where the Ministry of Finance will have the role of fund administrator, while foreign donors will have their own supervisory experts, who will compare the findings with the ministry's audits.
In the audit done by the Albanian government, for foreign grants and donations for the years 2022-2023, 47 million Euros of abuse and theft were found, specifically in water supply, education, health, tourism, environment, public administration training, etc.
One of the cases of these discovered thefts were the funds for which Ilir Beqja was arrested, who has many other abuses, with the funds delegated to other public services, but the abuses were hidden by the former minister Delina Ibrahimaj and the minister current Ervin Mete.
