As learned from diplomatic sources, it is a question of high officials, but also of political and business people, where most of them belong to the majority camp.
There are rumors that former minister Ilir Beqaj will be one of those punished by the United States government. The American strategy in this new momentum of severe punishments seems to aim precisely at the demolition of a "political wall" that the majority is creating for people like Ilir Beqaj.
While for Arben Ahmetaj, or even some other officials, it was Edi Rama who directly and indirectly influenced SPAK to arrest his former people, for Beqaj, he is making it possible to stop a peaceful investigation and undisturbed by the Special Prosecution regarding the corruption in the Health concessions.
Even the media close to the government have exerted public pressure on SPAK to use the same criminal procedure against Ilir Beqaj as with Sali Berisha.
This aims at two things; first, to influence as much as possible through pressure so that the procedures against Beqaj do not escalate, and secondly, to consider the former Minister of Health as Berisha's counterpart, in relation to the files opened by SPAK, both left and right.
Therefore, Ilir Beqajt, in addition to accusations and denunciations for abuse of state funds, also has a strong American file, which accuses the former minister of Edi Rama, of pressure and threats against the journalist of the Voice of America.
When Ilir Beqaj was the Minister of Health, he threatened Pëllumb Sulon live, the correspondent of 'Voice of America' in Shkodër. The event happened at the regional hospital, while journalists were attending a routine visit of Beqaj.
There was a time when the whole government was caught by the syndrome of boundless arrogance and acted as if they were strong with everyone.
While the journalist of "Voice of America" asks a normal question to Ilir Beqaj in the corridors of the regional hospital of Shkodra, the minister waits for him without any connection: "You got fat in the area too, Plum, what do you do?" While the journalist, whose voice is generally baritone, replies that I am doing normal work. But Beqaj was persuaded and encouraged the bodyguard to threaten the journalist with rude words. But Pigeon Sulo is not intimidated and does not let go of the camera. Then the minister sends the private guard of the Hospital to remove the journalist, who again does not play and calls him not to touch him, because he is on duty.
After the incident, it was learned that the then Director of VOA, Elez Biberaj, drew up a full report that he sent to the State Department, which has it in the file of Ilir Beqaj, but also others.
