A typical case of this connection and exchange of interests for 8 years is the trafficker, murderer and launderer of crime money, Andrea alias Adriatik Kalemi, with the Minister of Tourism-Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, deputy of the Gjirokastra District representing the Memaliaj area.
Andrea Kalemi was arrested by the RENEA forces, in the action of August 28 at his home in Memaliaj, and he was even wanted by the justice system of Belgium, for the murder of two Tepelenas with the surname "Çaçi", for rivalry in drug trafficking, women of prostitution activity.
Minister Mirela Kumbaro was aware of the criminal activity of Andrea Kalemi, even from police sources and the local leader of the SP, but she chose to cooperate with him and the "Kalemi" group, for the collection of votes in the territory of the Municipality-Memaliaj.
In the group for Kumbaro's votes, he had his nephew Aleaksandër Sadikaj, owner of the "Sanços" farm in Memaliaj, killed on June 11, 2022 in an assassination attempt in the TEG area in Tirana, proven as a drug trafficker and for several murders.
But also the uncle's son, the drug trafficker of women, Julian Kalemi, arrested together with Andrea Kalemi on August 28, 2024 in Memaliaj, because he kept hidden in the apartment, the much-wanted Andrew Bode for the murder of the businessman Edmond Papa.
Minister Mirela Kumbaro made these criminal contingents, under intensive investigation by justice and international search, part of the electoral staff, offering them as campaign financiers and "strong" people in the area, who gathered votes for MPs and SP in Memaliaj .
She mediated for tax exemptions for their businesses such as; farm "Sanço", "Bujtina Vjosa", several bars-cafes-restaurants and hotels in Memaliaj, Gjirokastër, Saranda and Tirana.
Even, according to official data, they have been given employment incentive salary refunds, for allegedly hiring young people; while accompanied by cameras, Mirela Kumbaro visited and promoted the two resorts, calling them investments with income from work in emigration.
With the intervention of Mirela Kumbaro in 2017 at the Municipality of Memalia which was run by the SP; Andrea Kalemi, the city cleaning tender was not removed and an additional 8.8 million Lek was awarded to him.
