The Foreign Ministers of 15 European countries have strongly called on Israel to immediately stop its military actions in Lebanon and to fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the neighboring country.
In a joint statement, Belgium, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Moldova, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Spain and Sweden called on Israel to immediately suspend military actions.
"We call on Israel to fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon. We call on all parties, both Hezbollah and Israel, to immediately suspend military actions," the joint statement said.
The statement warns that the conflict has caused a severe humanitarian crisis: 1.2 million people have been displaced from their homes, about 25% of Lebanon's total population.
Israel has said it is carrying out military operations in southern Lebanon to create a security buffer zone against Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group that has carried out repeated attacks on northern Israel.
