The United Arab Emirates' Foreign Affairs Office has denied a Wall Street Journal report, which claimed that the country is willing to use force to assist the United States in reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
In an official statement, Emirati authorities stressed that this strategic strait "cannot be subject to disruption or pressure from any state," warning that such actions would endanger global economic stability and international security.
Abu Dhabi confirmed that it supports international efforts to guarantee maritime security and maintain the free flow of trade, but underlined that any action must be in full compliance with international law.
In the same statement, authorities described as incorrect reports suggesting a change in the country's foreign policy.
The United Arab Emirates reiterated that its policy remains defensive, focused on preserving sovereignty, protecting the population and national infrastructure, while reserving the right to self-defense against attacks that it considers illegal and unprovoked.
