A claim has recently been circulating on social media that new documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case suggest that he is not dead and is still alive. According to this conspiracy theory, US authorities allegedly had “advance knowledge” of his death and that the event was fabricated to hide the truth.
However, a verification conducted by the BBC has refuted these claims, confirming that they are untrue and not based on official facts. The BBC clarifies that the documents being used as "evidence" on social media have been misinterpreted or are not official documents.

One of the key elements of the claim relates to a date mentioned in an internal US Department of Justice document, which shows the date August 9, 2019, the day before Epstein was found dead in his cell. According to the BBC, this document is not official and does not constitute any evidence that the authorities had prior knowledge of his death.
All official reports, including the autopsy report, prison records, and investigations conducted by US authorities, confirm that Jeffrey Epstein died on August 10, 2019. The US Department of Justice has clarified that the date included in the aforementioned draft was an administrative error and has nothing to do with any manipulation or staging of the death.
BBC experts say the spread of these conspiracy theories is due to misinterpretation of unofficial documents and a lack of context. According to them, there is no evidence to support the claim that Epstein is still alive. There are also suspicions that the images circulating on social media as "evidence" may have been created or manipulated by artificial intelligence.
A photo has gone viral claiming Epstein was seen in Israel. But digital analysis reveals that the original photo contains the SynthID stamp, meaning that much of the photo was edited or generated by Google's artificial intelligence.
