British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that the United Kingdom had no role in the US military operation in Venezuela.
Quoted by the BBC, Starmer said that London was not involved in any way in the operation during which, according to Donald Trump's announcement, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured and transferred abroad.
"I want to first clarify the facts, speak to President Trump and coordinate with allies. I can be absolutely clear: we had no role in this operation," Starmer said, stressing the importance of respecting international law.
The British Prime Minister added that the government is working with the embassy to ensure the safety of the approximately 500 British citizens currently in Venezuela and to provide them with the necessary assistance.
