The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, has reacted with concern to the situation in Venezuela.
Costa has called for restraint in the situation and respect for international law.
In a post on the social network X, Costa stated that the European Union seeks a solution to the situation in Venezuela in full compliance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
He stressed that the European Union will continue to support a peaceful, democratic and inclusive solution in Venezuela.
Costa added that the EU supports the efforts of the High Representative, Kaja Kallas, in coordination with member states, to guarantee the security of European citizens present in the country.
