The report suggests logistical plans for moving 200,000 military vehicles across German territory if necessary.
In light of these developments, Germany has advised its citizens to increase self-sufficiency by installing diesel generators and wind turbines. The alarm is not limited to Germany; Sweden and Norway have issued literature advising their citizens on preparedness in case conflict spreads to their countries.
The urgency of these preparations follows Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent announcement that he changed the Kremlin's nuclear strike policy to allow nuclear responses to non-nuclear conventional attacks. The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, declared: "Putin is playing with our fears", emphasizing that this intimidation has continued since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea. She added, "We need to invest in our security and defense."
This change in policy coincides with the US decision to allow Ukraine to use American-made long-range missiles against Russia, effectively removing a former 190-mile buffer zone from the Ukrainian border. Reports indicate that Russia has asked North Korea for help, asking for up to 110,000 troops to bolster its efforts in Ukraine.
