Recent political developments in Greece are bringing the possibility of early elections back to the center of debate, casting doubt on previous scenarios for their development in the longer term.
Until recently, political circles considered holding elections in the spring of 2027 as a possibility, at a time that would favor the narrative of political stability and economic improvement. However, the situation has changed following recent developments related to the OPEC+ issue and the investigations against several members of the majority.
These developments have increased pressure on the government, raising questions about its ability to manage a long period of governance under conditions of political tension and corruption investigations.
In this context, attention is focused on how Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will choose to react. One of the scenarios being discussed is that of an acceleration of political processes, with the possibility of calling elections after a short period, seeking a new mandate from the citizens.
However, up to this stage there is no confirmed decision, while political developments and the reaction of public opinion are expected to play a key role in determining the next steps.
