Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has rejected claims by former US President Donald Trump's administration that Tehran was preparing a preemptive attack on the United States or its military forces.
In a public reaction on the social network X, Araghchi described these accusations as "a pure and absolute lie," considering them an attempt to justify military actions taken by the US.
Referring to the American designation of the military operation, "Operation Epic Fury," the Iranian diplomat stated that the narrative of a possible Iranian attack was used to legitimize the intervention.
According to him, "the sole purpose of this lie is to justify Operation 'Epic Mistake,' a nefarious adventure orchestrated by Israel and paid for by ordinary Americans."
Recall that Trump previously stated that the American attack was preventive, as according to him, Iran was preparing strikes against American interests.
He said the objective of the operation was "to protect the American people by eliminating immediate threats from the Iranian regime."
