The US ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, has commented on the relations between Serbia and Russia, which continue to be good despite the unprecedented war that Vladimir Putin is waging against Ukraine.
Hill said it is unacceptable for Serbia to continue good relations with Russia, as Moscow has caused chaos halfway around the world.
"Serbia is a country that prided itself on very good relations with countries around the world, including Russia. It is completely unsustainable to continue good relations with Russia. "Russia created chaos in half the world, it caused big problems for everyone," Hill said.
During a statement at the Belgrade Economic Forum, Hill noted the ongoing efforts of the European Union to find a solution through dialogue and emphasized the importance of recognition by the parties of the situation of the Serbs in northern Kosovo.
He also added that it is essential for Kosovo to form the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority as a step to advance on the international stage and increase its diplomatic capacities.
In exchange, Serbia must withdraw from obstacles, paving the way for Kosovo to seek membership in international organizations, including those countries within the EU that have not yet recognized it as an independent state.
