
German authorities have announced that they have arrested two teenagers, one in North Rhine-Westphalia and one in Brandenburg, on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack on a Christmas market.
North Rhine-Westphalia's Interior Minister Herbert Reul said the teenagers, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack at a Christmas market, without specifying which one.
His counterpart in Brandenburg, Michael Stübgen, said in a statement that Brandenburg police had arrested a young Russian man who was suspected of preparing an attack.
A source who asked to remain anonymous told AP that the 16-year-old is a Russian citizen originally from Chechnya.
