Great Britain rejects any possibility of returning to the European Union.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak rejected the suggestion that Brexit could be in danger after Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, claimed that the United Kingdom could be on the way to rejoining the European Union.
From Brussels, Von der Leyen admitted that European leaders had "cheated" Britain's exit from the bloc and suggested that the new generation could fix it, foreign media reported.
Asked if the UK could ever rejoin the EU, she said it could happen.
“I have to say, I keep telling my kids: You have to fix it. We screwed it up, you have to fix it. So I think that even here, the direction of travel, my personal opinion, is clear," she said.
However, Sunak's official spokesman responded that the British prime minister did not believe Brexit was in danger.
"It is through our Brexit freedoms that we are considering, right now, how to further strengthen our migration system. We have a prime minister who championed Brexit before it was in his career interests to do so because he believes in it passionately. We are very focused on succeeding," said Sunak's spokesman from Westminster.
Von der Leyen made the comments at an awards ceremony hosted by Politico as relations between the EU and Britain continue to improve after their collapse near Johnson and David Frost, who negotiated the Brexit trade deal.
