King Charles III has attended a fashion show as part of Fashion Week, just hours after police arrested his brother, Prince Andrew.
The monarch arrived at the presentation of designer Tolu Coker, where he greeted citizens and sat in the front row among the official guests. During the event, he spoke with the chairwoman of the British Fashion Council, Laura Weir, as well as designer Stella McCartney.
Police detained Prince Andrew earlier in the day and questioned him over allegations he sent classified government documents to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The case has sparked a backlash in the British public.
In an official statement, Charles III expressed concern about the situation and stressed that the authorities must follow legal procedures, while the royal family will continue public engagements.
The monarch's participation in the fashion show had been planned earlier. The event follows a family precedent, as in 2018 Queen Elizabeth II attended a fashion show in London, where she sat front row during the presentation of designer Richard Quinn.
Before the start of the show, Charles visited several exhibitions included in the Fashion Week program, including a presentation of Stella McCartney's collections.
