The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has had a telephone conversation with the American senators, Chris Murphy, Jeanne Shaheen and Pete Ricketts, regarding the situation in Kosovo.
According to a press release from the Serbian Presidency, American senators asked Serbia to exercise restraint and call for peace.
"Murpy, Shaheen and Ricketts told President Vučić that they demand restraint from Serbia and calls for peace because this is in the best interest of everyone in the Western Balkans ," the Serbian Presidency said in a statement.
The announcement further states that during the telephone conversation, the arrest of Millun Millenkovič in the north of Kosovo was also discussed.
It is known that Vucic told the American senators that "clearly and without any doubt", the arrest of Millun Millenkovic-Llune was a provocation and a crime, which according to him, was committed by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. The Serbian president said that Kurti is "trying to provoke a war in the heart of Europe".
" Serbia is doing everything to maintain peace, but the Serbian people in Kosovo have been exposed to the worst torture and persecution in the last 15 years ," Vucic was quoted as saying.
