They met together in a show/ Who is Andrea Giambruno, the controversial

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Friday that she has split from longtime partner Andrea Giambruno, who faced criticism after making sexist comments backstage at his show.

" Here ends my relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost 10 years. Our paths have been separated for some time and it's time to accept this fact ," she said.

Television journalist Giambruno is the host of a news program broadcast by Mediaset, part of the MFE media group owned by the heirs of the late Silvio Berlusconi, former prime minister and Meloni ally. The Italian prime minister's relationship with Giambruno lasted about 10 years.

The split came after Italian media reported that Giambruno had made sexist comments to female colleagues on TV, unaware that his comments were being recorded. On Friday, the show Mediaset aired some behind-the-scenes parts of the show hosted by Andrea Giambruno.

Giambruno, 42, who hosts the show Diario del Giorno, was also criticized in August when he suggested on his show that women could avoid rape by not getting too drunk.

" If you go dancing, you have every right to get drunk - there should be no misunderstanding and no problem - but if you avoid getting drunk and losing your senses, you can also avoid facing certain problems and facing a wolf " , he said during his program.

Meloni had said after that episode that she should not be judged for her partner's comments and that she would not answer questions about his behavior in the future.

But who is Andrea Giambruno?

Andrea Giambruno was born on May 7, 1981 in Milan. He is a well-known journalist, author and TV presenter (especially after the appointment of his now ex-partner, Giorgia Meloni, as prime minister). At the moment he directs the current affairs column "Tg4 – Diario del giorno" and is also one of the hosts of Studio Aperto since 2020, the news program Italia 1. He became a journalist after attending the Frisi Science High School in Monza and then Catholic University of Milan, graduated in Philosophy.

After graduation, he specialized in writing television programs. His TV career, as a journalist, began at Telenova, until in 2009 he received a call from Gigliola Barbieri, author of Kalispera, who told him to appear at Mediaset the next day.

From there, his career at Mediset began. His CV (as he himself wrote on social networks) includes several participations in: Quinta Colonna, Matrix, Mattino 5, Stasera Italia. He then became the image of Tgcom24, and then the head of Studio Aperto. Immediately after the election of Giorgia Meloni as prime minister, he suspended his activity, to restart another more successful one.

The story with Giorgia Meloni

In fact, the two met in a Mediaset television studio. Giorgia Meloni, at the time a militant of the center-right party, was supposed to take part in a political broadcast on the network. Before the broadcast, the journalist said in several interviews that Meloni was eating a banana. It was Giambruno himself who interrupted him by inviting him into the studio for the start of the broadcast. The spark started there. Since then, a story began which in 2016 gave birth to their daughter Ginevra. / Pamphlet
