French President Emmanuel Macron paid a visit to the United Kingdom the day before. During the state dinner hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, Macron and Kate Middleton, who were standing next to each other, drew attention when the French president winked at Kate Middleton before exchanging a toast.
President Macron sat between King Charles and the Princess of Wales, while French First Lady Brigitte Macron, wearing a light blue dress, stood between Queen Camilla and Prince William, who was in a tuxedo and royal regalia.
The dinner brought together celebrities such as Sir Elton John, accompanied by his husband, Sir Mick Jagger, actress Kristin Scott Thomas, singer Mika and footballer Mary Earps. Also present were senior members of the British royal family, including Princess Anne with husband Timothy Lawrence and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The dinner also marked Kate Middleton's public return to such an official event after her health challenge. Dressed in an elegant dark red silk dress by Givenchy, she wore King Charles's Royal Order of Merit for the first time as well as Princess Diana's tiara.
