United States President Donald Trump has threatened that the US has the capacity to strike Iran in a way that would make it impossible to rebuild, but stressed that such action has not been taken.
In a telephone interview with Fox News, Trump said that the United States has the power to destroy important Iranian targets in a very short time.
"We're good. I can destroy things within the next hour. We can get together and within an hour you'll be reading about destroying nuclear plants. We can do things to Iran that would be terrible. They would literally never be able to rebuild as a nation, but we're not doing that right now," Trump said.
His statement comes at a time of ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly over Iran's nuclear program and security in the Middle East.
Trump also for the first time left open the possibility that Russia is helping Iran.
"I think Putin could help Iran a little bit," Donald Trump said on FOX radio.
President Trump said the United States does not need help with anti-drone defense when asked if Ukraine was offering such assistance.
