A senior adviser to Iran's supreme leader, Kamal Kharazi, has been injured in an attack in Tehran, the semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr reported on Wednesday.
“In today’s bombing of residential buildings in Tehran by the American-Zionist enemy, Dr. Kamal Kharazi was injured ,” Mehr said in its report. The agency did not provide details on the extent of his injuries.
The claim has not been independently verified. US network CNN reported that there is no independent confirmation of the incident and that US and Israeli officials have not commented publicly on the matter.
In early March, CNN journalist Frederik Pleitgen conducted an exclusive interview with Kharaz in Tehran, with the permission of Iranian authorities. In that interview, Kharaz stated that Iran is prepared to face a prolonged conflict and that it sees no room for diplomacy under the current circumstances.
Meanwhile, Iran's other semi-official Fars agency reported that Iran has warned that it may target American technology companies if more of its executives are killed.
