Dr Mohamed Abu Selmia, manager of Gaza's largest hospital, Al-Shifa, told the BBC that 32 people had died in recent days. Three premature babies and seven people have died due to lack of oxygen, he said.
Several other patients who need dialysis are at risk of dying in the "next couple of days" as the treatment is no longer available, he said.
The hospital is running out of fuel and other resources to continue operating to save premature babies who have been pulled from defunct incubators. There are more than 600 injured patients in the medical center.
The BBC asked the doctor if the Israeli army had made any contact about evacuating patients or premature babies. Israel has said it has sent fuel to the hospital and other sources. But the doctor said that they have not contacted.
"No, they have not contacted, on the contrary we have reached out to them, but so far we have not received any response. There are negotiations for the evacuation of premature babies, but so far nothing has happened," he said.
Abu Selmia said the hospital had also been in contact with the Red Cross to coordinate the burial of the bodies.
He added the shocking detail that dogs were eating the corpses.
