Details emerge from the plane crash in a residential area near the airport in Ahmedabad, India. The Air India plane sounded the alarm before crashing into a residential area. Authorities confirmed the preliminary dynamics of the air tragedy, explaining that it was the pilot who issued the SOS signal shortly before the crash.
It is still not known what caused the crash in a few seconds. The plane changed course as soon as it rose to about 200 meters, as it left the runway.
There were 242 people on board, including 230 passengers and 12 staff. Of these, 169 passengers are Indian and 53 are British. The aircraft took off from the airport at 08:30 in the morning and was due to arrive at London's Gatwick Airport this afternoon.
The plane had many flight hours and no mechanical or technical problems were encountered, but the investigation will reveal what happened. The pilot was experienced, with over 8,000 hours of flight time, and the co-pilot with over 1,000 hours.
