"We will take it 100%"/ Donald Trump increases provocations, does not

Tensions are rising between Denmark and the US...

United States President Donald Trump is not easing up on Greenland and its government. Hours after a visit by his Vice President, JD Vance, Trump said in an interview with NBC News that he would not rule out using military force to take the island.

" We will get it 100%. I think there is a possibility that we can achieve this without using military force. This is world peace, this is international security. But as far as the ways are concerned, I do not rule anything out ," he said.

Greenland is a territory of Denmark, a NATO and US ally. For months, Trump has announced his intention to annex the territory, arguing that it is necessary for 'national and international' security reasons.

The repeated standoff over control of Greenland – which Russian President Vladimir Putin has described as a 'serious' issue – has increased tensions with the Danish government.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will visit the island from Wednesday to Friday to "strengthen unity" with the Arctic territory, as Greenland has just formed a new coalition government. The visit was announced a day after Vance criticized Denmark for its "indecisiveness" in administering the autonomous Danish territory.

On Saturday, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen criticized the Trump administration for the "tone" with which it has spoken about Denmark and Greenland, stating that his country is already investing more in Arctic security and remains open to greater cooperation with the United States.

' There have been many accusations and many statements. And of course, we are open to criticism. But let me be completely honest: we do not appreciate the tone in which they have been expressed. This is not the way to speak to close allies. And I continue to consider Denmark and the United States as close allies ,' he said. / Corriere Della Sera
