
Following the conclusion of the European Leaders' Summit in London and his meeting with King Charles, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky answered questions from several journalists.
He was asked about statements by several US Republicans, including Senator Lindsay Graham and Speaker Mike Johnson, who suggested that Zelenskyy step down from his position after the tense meeting that took place in the Oval Office with Donald Trump.
Zelensky suggests he will resign if Ukraine is granted NATO membership, a demand he has made since the start of the war with Russia.
Zelenskyy was also asked about Ukraine's relations with the United States after a highly tense meeting with President Donald Trump and US Vice President JD Vance.
Despite this, the Ukrainian president tells reporters that the relationship between the two countries is "strong."
"We are grateful to the people of the United States. We are grateful to all the societies in the countries that support us. We are very grateful," he said.
He adds that he believes the relationship with the US will continue because Ukraine needs to succeed.
" The failure of Ukraine does not only mean a success for Putin, it means a failure for Europe and a failure for the US, and I think we are all interested in not letting Putin win ," he said, among other things.
Regarding the minerals deal, Zelensky said that the agreement that is on the table will be signed if the parties are ready.
" If we have agreed to sign the minerals agreement, and we are ready to sign it ," the Ukrainian president added.
