Buckingham Palace declares readiness to cooperate with the police, as new documents come to light that aggravate the position of the Duke of York...

King Charles has spoken publicly for the first time in the wake of a new wave of leaked documents relating to the Epstein scandal. King Charles has said Buckingham Palace is ready to support police authorities, if requested, in relation to allegations involving his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

In an official statement, a Palace representative stressed that "The King has made clear, in unprecedented words and actions, his deep concern about the allegations that continue to come to light regarding the conduct of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor."

According to the announcement, "these allegations are matters for which Mr Mountbatten-Windsor himself must answer, but if the Police approach the Palace, we are ready to cooperate, as is to be expected."

Police confirmed that they are examining whether there are sufficient grounds to investigate a complaint filed by the Republican organization Republic, which accuses Andrew of possible abuse of public office and violation of the secrecy of state documents.

Confidential emails and documents

According to emails included in the new batch of documents related to Epstein, the former prince is alleged to have forwarded reports from official visits to Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam to the financier, as well as sensitive information about investment opportunities.

Specifically, on November 30, 2010, he allegedly forwarded Epstein service reports he had just received from his then-advisor, Amit Patel, just 5 minutes after receiving them. Also, on December 24, 2010, he allegedly forwarded information on investment opportunities in Afghanistan that was classified as “confidential.”

According to official guidelines, trade representatives have a strict obligation to maintain confidentiality for sensitive commercial and political information arising from official missions.

"Our thoughts are with the victims"

The Palace statement stressed that “the thoughts and solidarity of the King and Queen have been and remain with the victims of all forms of abuse.” Earlier, during a visit by King Charles to Clitheroe, a question was heard from the crowd directed at him: “How long have you known about Andrew?”, while the rest of the audience reacted by opposing the intervention.

A similar statement was also released by Kensington Palace, on behalf of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who expressed "deep concern" about the new revelations and stressed that "their thoughts remain with the victims."

Accusations and new materials

The pressure on Andrew has increased after the release of around three million more documents related to Epstein. Among the allegations is that a second woman was brought to the UK by Epstein to have sex with him. The files also contain photographs that allegedly show him in a compromising position with a woman lying on the ground.

His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has also come under the spotlight, as several emails with the signature "Sarah" allegedly contain requests to Epstein for financial assistance.

Last week, Andrew moved earlier than planned from the royal residence Royal Lodge in Windsor to the king's private estate at Sandringham. In October 2025, following a previous wave of revelations about his links to Epstein, he was stripped of his titles of prince and duke.

Andrew categorically denies any involvement in illegal actions, insisting that the mention of his name in the Epstein files does not constitute evidence of guilt. /Adapted from BBC /
