Hamas may reject the 20-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Izz al-Din al-Haddad, head of Hamas's military wing in Gaza, has hinted that he is against this initiative.
According to BBC reports, al-Haddad believes that the 20-point US plan aims to disarm and destroy Hamas, whether the group accepts it or not, considering it a political and military trap. For this reason, he remains determined to continue the war against Israel.
The plan, which has already been accepted by Israel, calls for Hamas to hand over all hostages within the first 72 hours of a ceasefire, disarm and exclude itself from any role in the future governance of Gaza. These are terms that have been deemed unacceptable by Hamas' military wing, which is currently believed to still be holding 48 hostages in Gaza, only 20 of whom are thought to be alive.
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources say that some of Hamas' political leadership in Qatar may be willing to accept the plan with some changes. However, their influence is limited, as they control neither the hostages nor the ground in Gaza.
Some Hamas leaders have opposed the deployment by the US and Arab states of "an International Interim Stabilization Force" in Gaza, as they see it as a new form of occupation.
