Suspected of transporting drugs, US strikes another ship in the Caribbean Sea

The US military has attacked a ship suspected of transporting drugs in international waters in the Caribbean.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said three people were killed. Hegseth said the ship was run by a "proclaimed terrorist organization," but gave no details about the claim.

President Donald Trump has been repeating for weeks that the United States is in an "armed conflict" with drug cartels, arguing that these ships are run by foreign terrorist organizations.

This military action is the latest in a series of US attacks on ships sailing near the coast of Venezuela and in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

So far, Trump has deployed six US Navy warships to the Caribbean, sent F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico and ordered the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group to arrive in the region.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused the United States of trying to overthrow him, while families of the victims of the attacks have stated that many of the people killed in these bombings were civilians, mainly fishermen.

The latest attack was announced shortly after the US Senate's decision to reject a resolution prohibiting Trump from launching attacks on Venezuela without congressional authorization.
