"Inconceivable"/ What do former Prince Andrew's bodyguards know?
Former Prince Andrew

The United Kingdom's former head of royal protection, Dai Davies, told Sky News that security officers accompanying Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor likely had information about possible misconduct.

Andrew was arrested on Thursday by Thames Valley Police on suspicion of abuse of public office, following allegations that he sent confidential government documents to Jeffrey Epstein while the latter was serving as a trade envoy.

In a separate investigation, the Metropolitan Police announced that it is identifying and contacting former and serving officers who may have worked closely with the former prince.

British authorities are also assessing, in collaboration with American counterparts, whether London airports may have been used to facilitate human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Andrew has denied any wrongdoing in relation to reports of his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was arrested solely on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

"Everywhere he went, there was a team of protection officers and they were with him usually 24 hours a day," Davies told Sky News. He explained that the officers did not stay in the bedroom, but were on hand to respond to an incident.

Davies added that many of the officers had accompanied Andrew for years and had traveled with him to Epstein's properties in the United States, the Virgin Islands, New Mexico and Florida.

"It is inconceivable to me, I regret to say, that no one saw anything," he declared.

However, the former head of royal protection stressed that the investigation should not focus only on security officers. According to him, private secretaries and advisers who worked with the late Queen and the King should also be part of the checks.

"There are so many people named that they should be part of an investigation now," he said.

Regarding the Palace's response, including the removal of Andrew's royal titles, Davies said the measures came too late. He questioned whether an internal investigation had been conducted and who had led it.

"Unfortunately, there are big questions about the Palace," he told Sky News.
