Despite calls from Great Britain, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Egypt and other countries, Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his determination to launch an offensive in the Rafah area, where 1.4 million people have taken refuge from the war.
Fear of a planned attack on Rafah is a constant topic of conversation in the city already overpopulated by Gazans who were forced to relocate four months ago.
Mariam, a woman who fled northern Gaza, along with her three children, aged 5, 7 and 9, tried to find shelter in Rafah, once designated a safe zone by Israel, after the army ordered civilians to were leaving Gaza City.
" I can't describe how we feel. There is turmoil in my head. My children keep asking me when Israel will occupy Rafah and where we will go and if we will die. And I have no answers ," said Mariam.
Rafah is the southernmost urban area in Gaza, hemmed in by a barbed wire, metal and concrete border fence with Egypt.
Next to that fence is the Abu Mustafa family's tent, one of many encampments on roads, car parks and in the sand. They hang clothes between tents and cook what little food they can gather in empty cans over a fire on the floor.
"Every day, we are on the run. Moving is hard because I have two daughters with disabilities. I can't take them. I don't have a car or a stroller. If there will be more displacement, I'm not moving. " , said Laila Abu Mustafa.
While the Israeli prime minister has said that he has ordered the army to prepare a plan to evacuate the civilian population of Rafah before the offensive.
But it is unclear where the residents can move, in a territory bombed for four months.
Netanyahu suggested that civilians could be moved north to areas "already cleared" by the military. While a government spokesman said there were open spaces in Gaza where tent camps could be built.

The prime minister was asked whether he prioritized rescuing the 132 hostages remaining in Gaza or military victory, to which he said the goals were not mutual.
" I'm not sure that anyone can put themselves in the position of families, but neither can families put themselves in the position of decision-makers. These are two separate things ," said Rama.
He said he believed enough hostages remained alive "to warrant the kind of effort we are making."
Any future peace deal that includes a Palestinian state is "far off," he said, and that Israel must retain overwhelming control of Gaza's security./ Adapted "Pamphlet" from "SkyNews"
