A strong earthquake has alarmed the residents of the island of Skyros. The earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred at 23:04.
The earthquake, according to the Geodynamic Institute, had its epicenter 31 km west-northwest of Skyros. The focal depth is 16.6 kilometers.
The strong earthquake was felt in many areas, especially in the south of Skyros and in Attica. Residents in Evia, Kymi, Halkida and Aliveri were shaken by the tremors, while the earthquake was also felt particularly in Volos.
In the wider Skyros area, four earthquakes above magnitude 6 have occurred since 1900, according to the United States Geological Survey.
