Ministers from the grouping of the world's most industrialized nations have warned that Ukraine risks being defeated by Russia if it does not get more air defenses.
Two years after the invasion, Ukraine is facing a shortage of ammunition, while disagreement within the US Congress and the European Union over sending weapons to Ukraine continues.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called on EU countries to hand over air defense systems to help Ukraine: "Ukraine's electrical system will be destroyed and no country can fight without energy electricity at home, in factories, on the Internet and for everything. We have the Patriots. We have anti-missile systems. We have to take them out of our barracks, just in case, and send them to Ukraine, and I'm sure we will do that, but we have to finish quickly."
For his part, the Prime Minister of Ukraine has warned the world that it could be on the verge of a Third World War if Kiev does not receive the aid it requires. "If we don't protect it, Ukraine will fall. All this can lead to the Third World War", emphasized Denis Shmyhal in an interview for the BBC.
So G7 members are considering using nearly $300 billion in frozen Russian assets as collateral to provide loans to Ukraine, while talks continue on other options to help Kiev.
