The party has agreed on the withdrawal of Germany from the European Union and the euro system.

The far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) is returning to an anti-European course in the final draft of its election programme. According to the SPIEGEL newspaper , the party has agreed on the withdrawal of Germany from the European Union and the Euro system.

" We consider necessary the exit of Germany from the European Union and the creation of a new European community ", says the article of the "SPIEGEL" newspaper.

According to the plan, they want to replace the EU with an "economic and interest group". They also propose a referendum on an adaptation of European articles. At the same time, according to the report, the party emphasizes that "a hard exit from the EU would be counterproductive. Therefore, the transition to the new alliance, according to them, will have to be negotiated by consensus both with the old partner states of the EU and with the new interested parties.

It is further stated that Germany should " exit the euro system " and introduce a stable national currency, " if necessary, but maintaining the euro at the same time ". According to them, this movement will also have its burden of transition, however, the rightists argue, these costs will be lower than the permanent costs of staying in the euro system.

The AfD took similar positions in the 2021 federal election campaign, but later backed out of a possible Dexit. In February, AfD parliamentary group leader Tino Chrupalla told Deutschlandfunk that it was too late for a "Dexit". This is also the attitude of his co-party Alice Weidel. Instead, they want to work on EU reform.

Family policy

There are other radical program points in the AfD draft: abortions should "remain an absolute exception" and should only be allowed "if there is a criminal or medical indication". The party estimates that the number of abortions reported each year in Germany is clearly too high. Instead, the AfD wants to adapt mandatory counseling sessions before an abortion: "During pregnancy conflict counseling, mothers should be shown ultrasound images of the child so that they are clear about the stage of development of children ", says the draft.

The party also formulates the position on gender identity in the draft. The AfD wants to withdraw the Self-Determination law passed by the traffic light coalition, which allows trans people to change their gender and name on their identity card. She talks about an alleged "transcult" and "early sexualization" of children. The AfD wants to ban the use of puberty blockers that are used to change the gender of young people.

Economic and social policy

The AfD also strives for an economic policy based on "a market economy, national ownership and friendly cooperation between European states". For the party, this initially includes exiting the eurozone. At the same time, the AfD wants to keep cash as a "civil liberty". It remains unclear which currency the AfD wants to introduce after leaving the eurozone. She does, however, have words of praise for Bitcoin.

Return to trade with Russia

The AfD devotes several pages to security policy in its draft. Russia emerges as a supplier of cheap gas for which trade should resume. Ukraine must oppose its future as a neutral state "outside the EU and NATO". On Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine: no word.

Compulsory military service also does not appear in the draft. AfD party leader Chrupalla recently called for this. Until recently, the AfD was the only party that insisted on the restoration of compulsory military service in its basic program./ Adapted "Pamphlet" from "Der Spiegel"
