A meticulously organized robbery has taken place at a villa owned by the family of renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, in Forte dei Marmi, in the province of Lucca, Italy.
The incident was recorded during the night between June 26 and 27, at a time when the villa was rented to an American family who were spending their holidays in the Versilia area.
According to preliminary investigations, the robbers acted between 9:00 PM and midnight, taking advantage of the absence of the family, who had gone out for dinner. After entering the apartment, the perpetrators searched the premises and took a considerable amount of valuables, including jewelry, luxury watches, cash and branded handbags.
The economic damage has not yet been accurately calculated, but initial estimates indicate an amount that could reach up to 500 thousand euros.
Investigations to identify and apprehend the perpetrators are ongoing.
The verifications carried out revealed that the door to the villa was not properly closed and the alarm system was not activated, a circumstance that is suspected to have facilitated the robbers' entry.
The Bocelli family owns several properties in the Versilia area, some of which are rented out during the summer season to high-end tourists.
Meanwhile, authorities are analyzing security camera footage and any other evidence that may help fully unravel the incident.
The mayor of Forte dei Marmi, Bruno Murzi, also reacted to the incident, expressing regret for the robbery and stressing that the municipality is taking measures to strengthen security, through increased patrols, the expansion of the network of surveillance cameras and requests for more police forces during the tourist season. He also called on citizens and homeowners to use alarm systems and other security devices to prevent similar cases.
