Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich are currently meeting to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and the hostage release agreement, their spokesmen confirmed to CNN.
The meeting is a critical test of Netanyahu's political will to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Smotrich this week expressed strong opposition to the deal, but – unlike National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir – has not yet threatened to withdraw from Netanyahu's governing coalition if Netanyahu moves forward with the deal.
Ben Gvir has called on Smotrich to join him in order to overthrow the Israeli government, as it is against the agreement with Hamas.
