Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reacted to the attack undertaken by Hamas this morning, for which he has warned citizens that they are at war.
"Citizens of Israel, we are at war and it's not just an operation, it's a war," he said.
The Israeli prime minister added that he had ordered the army to withdraw its reserves and respond to the war with a vigor and a scale the enemy has never known before.
"I ordered a wide mobilization of military reserves. Hamas launched a sudden murderous attack. The enemy will pay an unprecedented price. We will respond with measures that the enemy has not known. We will win," Netanyahu said.
Gaza militants attacked Israel with rockets on Saturday morning. The Israel Defense Forces said it has declared a state of alert for war in response to the surprise attack from Gaza. The Israeli military has launched retaliatory airstrikes in the Gaza Strip and has warned that Hamas will pay a heavy price.
