The Israel Defense Forces announced that they are striking Hamas targets in Gaza in response to Gaza's attack on Israel.
Israel's Defense Minister says Hamas made a grave mistake this morning and launched a war against the state of Israel.

As alarm sirens blared across southern and central Israel, including Jerusalem, the Israeli military declared a state of war. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called an emergency meeting of security officials.
Today's attack was the most serious since the 10-day war between Israel and Hamas in 2021, with Israeli media reporting clashes between Palestinian militant groups and security forces in towns in southern Israel.
