Public and world opinion have been shocked by the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The motive of the attack is still unknown, as even his father does not know what prompted him to do such a thing.
The FBI has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania as the perpetrator of the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. The FBI said it was working to determine a motive for the attack.
According to records, Crooks was a Republican. The upcoming November 5 presidential election would be the first election in which Crooks would vote. Crooks lived about an hour away from where the attack happened.
The US Federal Aviation Administration announced today that it has closed the airspace over Bethel Park for "security reasons".
When Crooks was 17, he made a $15 donation to ActBlue, a committee that raises money for left-leaning politicians as well as Democratic politicians, according to 2021 Federal Election Commission filings.
The donation went to the national political organization Progressive Turnout. The project aims to mobilize Democrats to vote.
Crooks' father, 53-year-old Matthew Crooks, told CNN that he is trying to figure out what the hell happened while he will wait until he talks to law enforcement before talking about his son.
Thomas Crooks graduated in 2022 from Bethel Park High School, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
