A witness has told the moment of the assassination of Donald Trump. He states that he had warned Secret Service agents that an armed person was on the roof, just a few minutes before the former president was shot.
The witness, known only as Greg, told the BBC he saw the perpetrator climb onto the roof of a building in Butler, Pennsylvania and was surprised by the lack of action by officers.
"I was thinking, why was Trump still speaking, why didn't they remove him from the stage? After that, 5 shots were heard," he said.
The police have even confirmed that they did not notice the presence of the suspect on the roof. The officers then climbed onto the roof where the gunman was.
The witness, who is a Trump supporter, told the BBC other rally-goers also saw the 20-year-old on the roof for three or four minutes. He added that no action was taken by the agents.
"We noticed a guy on the roof of the building a few meters away from us. He had a rifle, we could clearly see he had a gun. When asked if he was sure the shots came from the man on the roof, the Trump supporter replied: 100%," the witness said.
Moments later, Secret Service agents were heard shouting "shooter's down." The agency confirmed that the incident is being investigated as attempted murder.
The witness said the police probably couldn't see the attacker, as the shape of the roof might have obstructed their view.
