Iran has said that one of the country's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers has been destroyed after a suspected attack, according to a statement released by the investment arm of the Social Security Organization (SHASTA).
According to the statement, the company was “destroyed” and its production lines were damaged. SHASTA called the incident a “brutal act by the enemy,” adding that the attack “directly targets the lives and health” of Iranian citizens.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Israel of "open and shameless bombing of pharmaceutical companies." In a response on the X network, he declared that the Iranian armed forces would "severely punish the aggressors."
According to Iranian media and former Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, the company hit is Tofigh Daru Research and Engineering Company, which is part of SHASTA.
The facility is reportedly located in an area for which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had previously published an evacuation warning in Persian on the X network.
On the other hand, the IDF has stated to the BBC that it is "still verifying" Iran's claims regarding this attack.
