An American journalist, identified as Shelly Kettelson, has been kidnapped in central Baghdad, according to information reported by a security service source to the Iraqi media outlet "Shafaq News".
According to the same sources, security forces in Iraq have immediately launched search operations to find her and clarify the circumstances of the incident.
The kidnapping took place near the Palestine Hotel, on Al-Sa'adoun Street, a well-known area in the center of the Iraqi capital, where journalists and international personnel are often located.
So far, authorities have not provided further details on the possible perpetrators or motives for the kidnapping. There is also no official information on the journalist's condition.
The incident comes at a time when the security situation in Iraq remains fragile in some areas, despite improvements in recent years, while kidnappings of foreign nationals remain a continuing concern for authorities.
