Iran starts lobbying in the Arab world, demands sanctions against Israel

Iran has called on Islamic countries to impose sanctions and freeze oil exports to Israel to pressure it to stop attacks on Gaza.

Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani, who accompanied Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on a visit to Doha, said the Muslim world must use its capabilities and its many tools, such as economic sanctions, against Israel and its supporters. , first of all to the United States.

Commenting on the meetings between the Iranian foreign minister and Qatari officials in Doha, the spokesman said that the agenda of both countries includes achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, stopping Israeli attacks on the coastal enclave and sending humanitarian aid.

Kanaani emphasized that the relevant parties should be informed that the situation is on the verge of getting out of control, underlining the importance that Iran attaches to achieving a ceasefire in Gaza as a humanitarian priority. For Kanaan, the US government, apart from Israel, is the main obstacle to a cease-fire in Gaza, explaining that it was Washington that vetoed the resolution proposed by the United Nations Security Council demanding a humanitarian cease-fire in the coastal enclave.
