US President Donald Trump, during a speech at the US Coast Guard Academy this afternoon in Connecticut, spoke about the war in Iran, saying he was in no rush to reach a deal since everything has been destroyed in Tehran.
He stressed that they are waiting for an agreement, but added that if such a thing is not achieved, the US will have to finish the job it has started, meaning resuming attacks on Iran.
" Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, almost everything. The only question is, are we going to go and finish it, or are they going to sign some document? Let's see what happens. We would have to open the Strait of Hormuz, it would open right away. So we'll give it a chance. We could do it both ways ," Trump said.
The US president also criticized the media for not presenting a positive picture of the US in the war in Iran. Trump called these media outlets "fake news" and added that when the deal with Iran is reached, it will be clear who is lying.
"We will not let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's it. It's very simple. We have great support, you wouldn't know it from reading the fake news. They want to make a deal so badly, we'll see what happens. But we hit them very hard; we may have to hit them even harder. But we will not let Iran have a nuclear weapon ," Trump added.
Trump also stressed that he would not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon to blow up the entire Middle East. He said that would pose a threat to Israel and then suggested that it would also pose a threat to Americans in the US.
