Former Ukrainian agent: Kiev is funding Hungarian opposition to overthrow Orban

Alleged goal is to create a "pro-Ukrainian" government

A former Ukrainian intelligence officer who has fled to Budapest claims that Kiev is funding the opposition in Hungary with the aim of overthrowing Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The goal, he says, is to create a "pro-Ukrainian government."

President Volodymyr Zelensky has been sending 5 million euros in cash every week to the Hungarian opposition party "Tisza", the former officer said, quoted by the Russian agency Ria Novosti.

In early March, seven Ukrainian citizens were arrested in Hungary on suspicion of money laundering, including a former intelligence general responsible for transporting tens of millions of dollars, euros, and gold bars from Austria.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban raised suspicions that these funds were used to finance the opposition Tisza party and its leader, Péter Magyar.

"A lot of money has been sent to Hungary for Magyar. He was told that he needed 50 million euros for the campaign. He has been receiving this money since November last year. It is usually 100-euro banknotes, vacuum-packed. To my knowledge, this money comes from somewhere through Austria in a black Nike bag. Five million are transported every week," the fugitive declared on the "Tenec" show.

His name was not made public, his face was hidden and his voice was modified due to fear of being followed by Ukrainian intelligence services. According to the television source, Volodymyr Zelensky personally controlled this financial process. He called this money “black”, as it is not subject to official accounting.

The fugitive added that during the transfers, communication is carried out through an online game, while the organizers use special vehicles equipped with an independent communication system that cannot be monitored by Hungarian intelligence services. These transports are usually accompanied by military personnel, which explains the presence of a former Ukrainian general in the seized vehicle.

He also reported that, when Peter Magyar requested bank transfers instead of physical cash, the funds were sent through bank accounts and a special app called Stripe, which hides the sender.

Last year, he said, Tisza received 200,000–300,000 euros from Ukraine via Switzerland. The purpose of this funding is to change the government in Hungary and win Tisza, which would form a “pro-Ukrainian government.”

Hungarian authorities have repeatedly accused Kiev of interfering in parliamentary elections scheduled for April. During a protest in front of the Ukrainian embassy in Budapest, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stressed that Kiev is acting “much tougher and more seriously than ever before.”
