The chairman of the Movement for Serbian Renewal and former head of diplomacy Vuk Drashkovic said today that the proposal of the resolution of the Socialist Movement of Aleksandar Vulin for Serbia's membership in BRICS is nonsense that should not even be considered.
Draskovic told the Beta agency that the only reasonable path for Serbia is the European one.
" That resolution is meaningless and should not even be taken into account. From its foundation until today, SPO is for Serbia in Europe and Europe in Serbia. This is the only reasonable way ," he said.
He emphasized that the submitter of the resolution is a "fanatic" representative of the politics of Slobodan Milosevic and Mirjana Markovic in the "terrible" nineties of the last century, "and today he is the most loyal man in Serbia to the regime in the Kremlin."
" In presenting this insane resolution, he uses the tragic truth that today for the vast majority of Serbs in Serbia, Republika Srpska and Montenegro, the countries of the NATO alliance and the European Union, the entire 'collective West' is the enemy of the Serbian people, while Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, the African dictatorships under the command of Wagner are friends and protectors of the Serbs ," said Drashkovic.
He added that the proposal of the Socialist Movement is a consequence of the long-term "hypnotization" of the Serbs by the campaign and actions of the Udbas, the Serbian Orthodox Church, many academics and members, as he said, of the so-called national elite and almost all the media.
" Officially, Serbia is 'on the path to EU membership'. In this way, the EU and the West are used as ATMs for investments and donations, and a propaganda war is being waged against the EU and the West, even harsher and more primitive than the aggressive junta in the Kremlin," concluded Drashković .
On August 28, deputies of the Socialist Movement, the party founded by Aleksandar Vulin, presented a proposal for a resolution on Serbia's membership in BRICS.
" Aware of the fact that the world we live in is changing irreversibly, we express the need for opening a broad social dialogue before the public of the Republic of Serbia for the indisputable fact that Serbia's European path has a clear alternative to embodied in the process of membership in the BRICS organization, as the most current global economic-political integrative process ", says the proposal submitted to the Assembly of Serbia.
The deputies of the Socialist Movement assessed that the world has become multipolar again after three decades, "with the increasingly visible end of the political hegemony of the collective West".
" The lack of open social dialogue, the imposition of EU integration as a ready-made solution and the only way, together with the hypocrisy of the Brussels administration, constant political blackmail and the demand to give up part of the state territory, led to the fact that the citizens of Serbia finally realized en masse that they were victims of a well-thought-out manipulation of the collective of the West. The result of all this is the fact that nearly two-thirds of the citizens have perceived Serbia's membership in BRICS as a better and more acceptable integration option, which in the long term offers better prospects for faster development and better economic", said the Socialist Movement, whose founder was Aleksandar Vulin.
BRICS is a grouping of world economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, formed by the addition of South Africa in 2010 to the predecessor BRIC. The original acronym "BRIC," or "BRICs," was coined in 2001 by Goldman Sachs economist Jim O'Neill to describe the fast-growing economies that he predicted would collectively dominate the global economy by 2050.
