Italy has been hit again by bad weather, floods and storms that have caused damage and alerts in several areas.
In Sicily, in Leonforte two cars ended up in the Crisa River, two people were rescued by firefighters, while another is missing. In Sardinia, rain and hail have destroyed hectares of agricultural land and flooded several towns.
The Civil Protection Department has issued an orange alert for Liguria and Lombardy starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday. In Milan and Bergamo, public gardens and parks will be closed on August 20.
In Northern and Central Italy, heavy rain and storms are expected in the regions of Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Tuscany. A yellow alert has been issued by the Civil Protection for these areas.
Arezzo has experienced its third torrential downpour in three days, causing flooding and blocking several roads. Meanwhile, in Perugia, heavy winds and rain brought down trees on the Perugia-Bettolle highway, forcing its temporary closure.
Authorities call for maximum caution and following emergency instructions.
