The Vatican has updated the health of Pope Francis, announcing that he remains in critical condition. Pope Francis has also shown signs of a kidney problem.
According to the Vatican, blood tests show “an initial, mild, renal insufficiency, which is currently under control.” The 88-year-old pope is still undergoing “high-oxygen therapy” through his nose, while his hemoglobin value has increased after a blood transfusion on Saturday.
He has been in hospital since February 14 and is being treated for double pneumonia and chronic bronchitis. This morning, the Vatican said the Pope had had a “quiet” night and confirmed that he would not lead prayers for the second week in a row.
