The case of 13-year-old Lesly is undoubtedly the ideal example of a sister's love and sacrifice for her brothers.
'The Mirror' writes that the little girl took care of her 3 brothers for a full 40 days when they got lost in an Amazon rainforest. Lesly took care of 9-year-old Soleiny, 4-year-old Tien Noriel and 10-month-old Cristin. All 4 children have miraculously survived after the plane they were passengers in crashed in the Colombian jungle on May 1. Unfortunately, their mother Magdalena Mucutui Valencia along with two other adults died on the spot.
The Armed Forces of Colombia had long been searching for minors. The day they found them, they say the 4 children were hungry, dehydrated, but thankfully unharmed. It is almost unbelievable how these children managed to survive in such conditions for such a long time.
Their aunt, Caracol Mutucuy, told foreign media that the children managed to survive in the jungle by playing. She says that Lesly knew well which fruits should not be consumed, as many of them are poisonous. "She knows how to take care of children", said Caracol.
In the place where the children had lived for more than a month, Lesley had created small shelters for her brothers through leaves or bushes.
According to the BBC, the 13-year-old was used to taking care of her younger brothers before the air accident as their mother went to work. The children belong to an indigenous family.
Now, the children have been sent to the main hospital in Colombia to receive all the necessary health care. They were also visited by President Gustavo Petro.
